Weekend Weapons…Digitalism

Weekend Weapons…Digitalism

With 400 gigs under their belt in 2008, German pair Digitalism [a] have been doing electronic music for real on live stages throughout the world.

Their studio, which is housed in an old World War II bunker, has been prolific of late with standout cuts having been released on all the biggest indie dance labels like Modular [l] and Kitsune [l], as well as on their own Digitalism Records.

But when Hamburg’s Jens Moelle and Ismail Tuefecki aren’t finger-drumming synths on stage, the boys like to get their mix on, and so with the threat of us smashing a giant disco ball above their heads, Digitalism revealed their current top 3 for this week’s Weekend Weapons.

1. Shazam ‘Luckier’ (Hey Today Remix) [Bang Gang Rec]

Digitalism really dig this nod-to-French-house cut from Perth-based producer Shazam [a].

They reckon it’s “a real French house killer, back to the old school!”

It’s certainly about as groovy as it gets.

Listen to ‘Luckier’ on Shazam’s MySpace page.

2. Beni ‘My Love Sees You’ (DerDieDas Remix) [Kitsune]

Beni’s ‘My Love Sees You’ gets a driving disco house rerub from Germany’s DerDieDas [a], who themselves retouched Digitalism’s ‘The Pulse’ late last year.

Quite simply, Digitalism think their remix is “madness on the dancefloor!” Look out.

3. Digitalism ‘Echoes’ (Digitalism Underwater Remix) [Kitsune]

With its disco-fabulous synths, Digitalism’s own Underwater Remix of ‘Echoes’ sounds like a cross between Daft Punk [a], and the love child of Giorgio Moroder [a] and a mermaid.

It certainly “gets people dancing”, say Digitalism. We agree.
