Weekend Weapons…Chris Lake
Weekend Weapons…Chris Lake
8 December, 2008 | 1.38PMOur eternal quest to find the most upfront tunes continues this week with British DJ Chris Lake
who reveals his Weekend Weapons for the Beatportal community.
Lauded as an innovative producer with an ability to fuse together house, electro and progressive house, Lake in the past has collaborated with both Deadmau5
and Sebastien Leger
and recently remixed Australian singer Sia.
This past weekend Chris played Essence Festival in The Netherlands, and here are his three biggest dancefloor destroyers.
1.ZZT ‘The Worm (Erol Alkan Extended edit)’ [Turbo]
Get ZZT ‘The Worm (Erol Alkan Extended edit)’ [Turbo] on Beatport
I’m loving Erol Alkan’s edit on this one.
It’s as fresh as they come; raw experimental electro at its very best.
It’s in no way a ‘typical’ track and neither is the video!
2. Riva Starr ‘Squash’ [Made To Play]

This tune made it to number one on my podcast last month and still sits at the top of my chart.
A brilliantly heavy track made by a producer that really gets it; pure funk, grove and grip.

3. Chris Lake feat Nastala ‘If You Knew (Rising Music/Nervous Records)’
This is my new track featuring vocals from Nastala, yet to be released.
I’ve been playing this out for the past few months now and the crowd’s reaction puts a smile on my face every time!
[Pete Tong also had good things to say about this track in his Las Vegas tour diary here on Beatportal].
