Weekend Weapons…Will Bailey
Weekend Weapons…Will Bailey
16 July, 2009 | 6.01AMWill Bailey’s music swaggers with Brummie bravado and wobbles with raw electro noise. Unashamedly brash, his urban-flavoured house music has caught the eye of more than just the electro house scene with Britain’s Radio 1, and electro leaders Lee Mortimer and Wolfgang Gartner having shown support for Bailey in the past year.
Germany’s Myles Dyson
, another rising electro house star, even went so far as to say, “Among the vast amount of 21st century producers, Mr. Bailey is one of the peaks of present electronic music.”
From his recent old skool hip hop and electro house soundclash ‘Hustlin And Scratchin’, to his UK speed garage-flavoured hit ‘The Cannock Wobble’, to the mainroom shocker ‘The Dutty Clem’, and an unreleased bootleg of Montano Vs. Trumpet Man ‘Itza Trumpet Thing’ (listen to it on his Myspace), Will Bailey is quickly establishing himself as one of electro house’s most promising young talents.
With Bailey’s own Simma Records
having achieved a number of electro house hits this year, and an increasing amount of high profile DJ gigs at clubs like Womb in Tokyo, Ministry of Sound in London, Privilege in Ibiza, and Soma in San Francisco, we felt it was time to sneak a peek into the record box of Will Bailey
.
Here are his current top 3 bombs.
Spencer & Hill ‘Cool’ (Afrojack Remix) [Tiger Records]

This track is simply awesome. Everytime I drop it the crowd go mad for it. It has got groovin’ beats, wicked vocal edits, and tonnes of bass.
You have to hear this on a system, because you’ll definitely see me jumping up and down to this one. It’s a proper party starter.
Bill Eff ‘Baby Baby’ [Wearhouse Music]

This track is killer, and I’ve been dropping this for a long time. It just rolls - the bass is wobbly and the beats are crisp.
The second bass drop steps things up even more, and it just works the floor every time without fail. Bill Eff is definitely one to watch.
Will Bailey ‘Hit The Club’ [Simma Records]

Of course I had to put one of my own jams in here - this one lands on Beatport in about a week on my own label Simma Records.
It’s a new sound for me, with big drums and vocal hits layered over a twisted top riff. It has been working the dancefloors really well for me and I’ve been getting some great support off the likes of Laidback Luke, Sidney Samson, Foamo, DJ Dan and Wolfgang Gartner. Keep your eyes out for this one!
