Weekend Weapons: Wilkinson

Things started off gradually for South West London drum ‘n’ bass producer Wilkinson. His first single, for Hospital Records, turned up on their 2010 compilation Sick Music 2. A few months later, he collaborated on a remix with Cyantific, and then landed on Andy C’s Nightlife mix album. As 2010 came to a close, he rounded out the year putting out a single of his very own.

One to watch at the beginning of 2011, Wilkinson’s rookie status became a thing of the past when the release “Every Time"/"Overdose” scored huge with fans and fellow DJs. This week we see a repeat of that success as both tunes (and the remix) off his latest single “Tonight"/"Pistol Whip” take over spots in drum & bass’ top 100 tracks. In just over a year, he’s made short work of becoming an exciting new entry to drum ‘n’ bass’ upper tier.

Wilkinson is said to be locked in the studio, slaving away on his debut album for Ram Records, so we jumped at the opportunity to score a Weekend Weapons from the chap. Read on for his picks and comments.
