is back at Space Ibiza for his third summer in a row, helming a coveted Friday-night residency, and the Madrid mainstay’s productions are making waves from the White Isle all the across the Atlantic.
In the video above, he speaks to Pioneer DJ Sounds about his definition of house music, and he breaks it down in his Weekend Weapons selection for Beatport. Read on for his picks, with audio and commentary.
Wally Lopez, ‘Rocking Year’ [Global Underground]
My first single on Global Underground, kicking off a collaboration with one of my favorite labels in the UK. To mix one of Global Underground’s compilations has always been a dream of mine, and this year it becomes a reality. The James Talk, Dom Kane and MODE remixes are great. Waiting impatiently for the second single from the compilation, called ‘Yeah’…
E.M., ‘Muchacha de Mar (Alessio Mereu Remix)’ [The Factoria]
I’ve been playing this remix since WMC. Together with the label manager of Factomania, Luis Bonias Bias, we decided to license the track including a different remix, which was done by Alessio Mereu. The remix has been a great success this summer. I have to say thanks to all the people who have participated.
Taras Van De Voorde, ‘1998’ [Rebirth]
I can’t stop playing this track! I’m totally hooked, and tons of people ask about it. Thanks to Shield (Rebirth Records) for sending it and recommending it to me. A real hit!
The Machine, ‘Crash (Wally Lopez Remix)’ [Audio Therapy]
My first collaboration with Dave Seaman and Scott Dawson’s label. A remix that will have to speak for itself. I’m really happy with this work.
Kaiserdisco, ‘Jaana’ [Kling Klong]
One of my favorite German labels, and Kaiserdisco is also one of my favorite duos… I have no more to say. Summer bomb!
Wally Lopez, ‘Noche Sin Luna 2010 Remixes’ [The Factoria]
After last year’s success with the first version, I have to say thanks to all Factomania’s artists (Ismael Rivas, Ivan Pica & Luis Damore, Bias & Alex Font, XtraBucks and DJ Juan Camero & Chousa) for these wonderful remixes and how well they all work on the dancefloor, one for every moment… Amazing.
Lutzenkirchen, ‘Weekend Freakshow’ [1605]
This one has me caught in its grip—what a powerful groove! 10/10 for Umek, Kostas and Tobias.
Wally Lopez & Ismael Rivas, ‘Is Deeper’ [303 Lovers]
The first of my coming collaborations with Ismael Rivas, and a great beginning on Manu, Alex and Luigi’s label. Thanks so much for believing in us.
Wally Lopez, ‘LOL’/’Incredible Experience’ [Spinnin]
My first release on Spinnin, and not the last! Follow-up to come soon!
