Weekend Weapons: Till von Sein
Weekend Weapons: Till von Sein
8 November, 2011 | 7.42AMAfter wooing house heads and home listeners alike with Trickski’s album Unreality this summer, Berlin’s Suol label is back with another longplayer that elegantly bridges basement-party vibes with Sunday-afternoon sofa lounging: Till von Sein’s #LTD.
The Berlin-based producer’s debut album, it runs from slow-motion disco and laid-back hip-hop to perfect midnight house grooves; pals Tigerskin, Catz ‘n Dogz, Chopstick and Fritz Kalkbrenner, among others, pop in to help round out the family affair.
To celebrate the album’s release, we asked Till von Sein to share some of his sure-fire club jams of the moment. Read on for his selections.

Eats Everything, “Whatever Whatever” [dirtybird]
He had one of the biggest DPs for me in 2011 (on Pets) and this one is a sick lil followup. Great vibe, great vocal cutups, and looots of bass.
Zakes Bantwini, “Wasting My Time (Rocco Mix)” [Real Tone Records]
That’s the kinda rhythm I always dig, and the vocals match perfectly. I can’t play straight 4/4 beats for two hours, and this is the best way to escape for seven minutes.
Tanner Ross, “B Side” [No 19 Music]
This one’s a beast! Totally love the whole drum programming and how the breaks kick in and out. And this synth line on top… oulala papi!
Coat of Arms, “Lovin’ Together” [Pets Recordings]
Dig the whole compilation, but this one is the jam I always drop. Great buildup and a dope bassline kickin’ it at one point for some serious damage.
Moomin, “Doobiest” [Smallville]
Reading the title, I thought: oh no, please no “Funkdoobiest” edit or whatsoever… But this sample is one of the nicest ever. Great, deep, driving jam for the proper warmups.
Florian Blauensteiner, “Hold On (SLG Never Enough Remix)” [Klasse Recordings]
I dropped this one in a club before listening carefully at home, ‘cause I’m a big SLG fan ever since, and I thought I could just trust him as usual… People literally freaked out… Just listen to it, and like Adam Port said: “124bpm, baby!”
Dub Taylor, “Mind Stroke” [Rotary Cocktail]
Dub Taylor at his best. Amazing groove and some serious chords business with a biiig breakdown… Playing this since 2 months already and still love it.
Julien Jabre, “Swimming Places (Jerome Sydenham Remix)” [Defected]
Eli of Soul Clap fame dropped this one at Watergate last month when we played together, in a perfect moment in the early morning hours, and the whole place went nuts. So bringing back this gem to my mind as it’s one of my aaaaalltime faves. I had to drop it the last 4-5 weekends again… Thx E !
