Weekend Weapons: The Subs

Weekend Weapons: The Subs

The Subs [a] are back with a huge new album, Decontrol, that finds the Belgian producers mixing up combustible electro bangers with sleek acid techno and abstract electronic hijinks. Released on the Lektroluv [l] label, it’s a killer collection of tunes somewhere between Daft Punk and punk rock that ought to turn any party into full-on rave mayhem.

The Subs happen to be pretty crack DJs themselves, so we asked them to share a selection of Weekend Weapons with us; read on for their high-caliber picks, including a couple of tantalizing surprises.

Aufgang, “Dulceria (Clark Remix)” [Infiné]

We discovered this track during the final party of the Future Music Festival. Sven Väth was playing an exclusive DJ set for all the artists. Everybody was so wasted and in the zone, a night we will never forget. We’re so happy we went over to him and ask him the name of this track....

MixHell, “Antigalactic (Mumbai Science Remix)” [Boysnoize Records]

We love MixHell, great people who make great music. Our label buddies Mumbai Science cooked up a top remix for this one. When we did DJ sets the last few months, this was always in there…

The Subs, “The Hype” [Lektroluv]

One of the tracks from our album Decontrol. It’s the most pumping mothafucka of the album. Highly boobylicious!

Kissy Sell Out, “Wild In The Warehouse (Ado Remix)” [San City High Records]

We’ve been Ado fans from the first hour. When you hear an Ado production, you instantly know it’s him. Very energetic, fresh and he always kind of sets some kind of old skool techno vibe before exploding into absolute bass tweak mayhem. Love it…

Style of Eye, “Sexx” [Refune Records]

This track has everything you want: catchy, “Sexx”y beats and melodies! Brilliant new production from another one of our favourite producers of the moment. He also made a great remix for our last single, “Face Of The Planet.”

D.I.M. & Tai, “Glass” [Boysnoize Records]

Two lovely guys who make great tracks on their own and together! This one was featured on the Boysnoize Miami Noize 2011 compilation. Pumping and sexy at the same time!!! This one will get you in a good mood for sure!

Siriusmo, “Idiot” [Ed Banger]

This is not really a clubby track, but it has an amazing vibe. It sums up what good electronic music is all about. And it’s also very funny, sunny and bunny.

Daft Punk, “The Son Of Flynn (Goose Remix)” [unreleased]

Why the hell did this get rejected by Disney? Mickey had cheese in his ears? Our fellow Belgians, Goose, deserved a spot on the R3C0NF1GUR3D compilation with this atmospheric remix for Daft Punk....

Djedjotronic, “Invisible Landscape” [Ed Banger]

One of our favourite producers of the moment. Always cool, great sounding and extremely groovy. Hard not to dance to… From the Ed Banger Let The Children Techno compilation.

Connan Mockasin, “Forever Dolphin Love (Erol Alkan Rework)” [Phantasy]

Erol never lets you down. As a DJ and a producer he’s always surprising and innovative! Beautiful rework he has done for his own Phantasy label. This is a nice one to play at the afterparty.

Choice, “Acid Eiffel”

This track is the past and the future! It feels like the sunrise on acid. Laurent Garnier [a] made it together with Shazz in ‘93 and it’s still amazing!
