Weekend Weapons: Matthias Tanzmann
Weekend Weapons: Matthias Tanzmann
4 August, 2010 | 3.42AMMatthias Tanzmann
has been flying the house-music flag for well over a decade now, first with his residency at Leipzig’s Distillery, then as one half of Gamat 3000
, and, since 2000, as the co-founder and A&R director of Moon Harbour Recordings
.
In addition to his releases for his own label, Tanzmann frequently turns up on likeminded imprints like 100% Pure
, Ovum Recordings
, Cargo Edition
, Vakant
, and Supernature![[a]](http://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif)
. (Just yesterday, in fact, Supernature released a Tanzmann remix as part of Alex Niggemann’s ‘Take Control’.)
Tanzmann appears this weekend at the Fuse Saturday Night Rave at London’s Hearn Street Car Park, along with DJ T.
and Martinez
. For a taste of what’s getting Mr. Dance Man up on his feet, check out his Weekend Weapons picks below.
Paul C & Paolo Martini, ‘Plug Me (Johnny D. Remix)’ [AMA Recordings]
Johnny’s trademark rolling groove and the incorporated sample cuts make this one a total winner for me. It keeps going and going but never gets boring.
Luna City Express, ‘Mr. Jack (Robag’s Edna Mompf Remix)’ [Moon Harbour]
The original track, from last year’s Luna City Express album, already caused some serious trouble on the floors. Now the Robag Wruhme remix takes it to another level. I’ve been playing it for quite a while now, but still can’t take it out of my crate.
Davide Squillace, ‘Cubism’ [Desolat]
For sure one of the best releases of the summer. The title track is outstanding with the great breakdowns and the atmosphere it manages to create. But ‘The Other Side Of The Bed’ is also great.
Jaffa Surfa, ‘Doin Hauz’ [All Inn Records]
I love what All Inn have put out in the last months. This is another great tune. Effective deep house music.
Mathias Kaden, ‘Roots (Luna City Express & Matthias Tanzmann Remix)’ [Vakant]
Our friend Mathias asked us to remix a 45 second interlude track from his album. Challenging. Luna City Express and myself met up for two studio sessions in Berlin and Leipzig and drafted this remix in the end.
Tanov, ‘Relevant (Steve Lawler Remix)’ [Monique Music]
I really like what Steve does these days. Also the releases on his VIVa Music are super nice. I play almost every release recently. And this remix is a total bomb as well.
Sascha Dive, ‘Jus Groove’ [Tsuba]
One of the best tracks of the year for me. It is perfectly simple, but the groove of this track is just magic. So jus groove to it!
