Weekend Weapons: Marco V

Weekend Weapons: Marco V

This month, the Netherlands’ trance/progressive mainstay Marco V [a] launched his new venture, TAO. Short for “The Art Of,” TAO combines a record label, event promotions company, and social-media platform under one roof. The label’s first release, ”Reaver," appeared at the beginning of the month; it’s a massive, anthemic progressive number backed with an equally rocking Save the Robot remix.

Read on for Marco’s complete Weekend Weapons picks, including tunes from Toolroom, Mau5trap, Marco’s own In Charge [l], and more.

Mark Knight & Wolfgang Gartner, “Conscindo” [Toolroom]

One of my favorite dancefloor bangers at the moment. Great progressive feel and although it has a laid-back feel to it, Mark and Wolfgang do an awesome job in locking down that energy. That big break makes the crowd go nuts every time I play this track, really love it!!!!

Tim Berg & Norman Doray, “Tweet It “ [Size Records]

These two guys are awesome! Both young producers but such a mature and evolved sound. I really love popping this track into the CDJs, as it has great energy and leaves the crowd wanting more and more! This track does a great job pumping up the crowd and getting them ready and right where I want them.

Marco V, “Reaver” [TAO Recordings]

This track is out on TAO Recordings, my new label. I love the musical theme we managed to put together on this and it really works! It is a progressive track with a hard thumping kick making sure it releases so much energy you instantly get the urge to move your feet.  All my colleagues that play it have received this track very well. It is so nice to get compliments on your work, especially when it comes from people that play in the widest range within the house music genre. THANKS!!

Thomas Gold, “Work That” [Toolroom]

The title to this track actually says it all: Work that body!! I really like the deep dark underground groove this track lays down, where Thomas still maintains to keep the overall feel very uplifting!

Jay C & Felix Baumgartner, “Souk” [Toolroom]

This one is an absolute gem! The Arabic feel blended with that good old progressive taste all blend together into an almost housy groove. When heard on a loud, very loud, soundsystem, it give me a big case of goosebumps!

Moguai, “Oyster (Michael Woods Remix)” [Mau5trap]

An epic track! Michael Woods delivers a sublime remix, all due respect to Moguai of course, but for me Michael has the edge on the production side of things at the moment! Taking producing to the next level.

Marco V & MoHawk, “Zero One” [In Charge]

When I play, I play loads of my own stuff. “Zero One,” out on my label In Charge, is a track leaning towards trance, but it still maintains to keep that proggy energy I love so much. I recently played it at the closing of Judgement Sundays at the Eden club in Ibiza and the crowd went nuts, we had a big party together!
