Weekend Weapons: Craggz & Parallel
Weekend Weapons: Craggz & Parallel
4 November, 2011 | 1.58PMWhen Craggz & Parallel Forces trimmed down to Craggz & Parallel, in 2007, the two changed their approach to production and uncovered a new sound. Amongst those new flavors were the 2010 tracks “Future Shock” and “Turn The Page,” from the album Turn The Page. The upcoming release on their own imprint Product Recordings is a rehash of those 2010 gems, as DnB artists Jubei and Need For Mirrors rework the tunes with their own remixes.
As our interest piques for these new editions, we asked Craggz & Parallel to explore some picks for our latest Weekend Weapons.
Craggz & Parallel, “Future Shock (Jubei Remix)” [Product Recordings]
We enlisted the services of Metalheadz’ Jubei to go to work on this one like only he can. Maintaining the essence of the original track, taken from last year’s Turn The Page LP, Jubei strips it down and twists it up to 11! Watch out for the drop.
Calyx & TeeBee, “Back & Forth” [Momentum Music]
A sneaky peek from the forthcoming Calyx & Teebee album (Momentum Music) that bodes well for the rest of the LP. Great future jazz vibes on this one—funky slap bass; filtering Rhodes chords and horns intricately interweave around skeletal beats and driving subs. Photek’s ”Hidden Camera” for a new era.
Craggz & Parallel, “Dead Stop” [Product Recordings]
One from our ever-expanding batch of new material. “Dead Stop” is a straight up techy stomper with a tip of the hat to the late ‘90s sounds of Bad Company. Currently picking up diverse support from Fabio to Youngsta.
ST Files & Calibre, “Falling Down” [GreyAudio]
A recent collaboration by two great producers. A militant stomping beat reminiscent of Ed Rush, Optical and Fierce’s “Alien Girl” combine with gut wrenching bass notes to devastating effect. Always gets a great reaction.
Craggz & Parallel, “Turn The Page (Need For Mirrors)” [Product Recordings]
Need For Mirrors step up to give the title track from last year’s Turn The Page LP a re-rub, and what a great job they did. They keep true to the key elements from the original, with the addition of some signature sci-fi atmospherics and a full Cycle-styled decending bass riff to rattle your rib cage. Nicely done lads.
