Weekend Weapons…Dixon
Weekend Weapons…Dixon
14 October, 2008 | 10.37AMWeekend Weapons is a new weekly feature in which we shamelessly beg the top tier of the world’s DJ’ing elite to reveal their top 3 tracks from their weekend.
Widely considered to be among the most talented and influential DJs to recently emerge, we felt it fitting to ask Innervisions taste-maker Dixon to kick things off with his deadly trio.
His gigs last weekend saw him hit Tape in Berlin as part of the Popkomm event, travel to Portugal to play Lux in Lisbon and round off the weekend in Spain with a set at Fabrik in Madrid.
Here’s Dixon’s Top 3 Weekend Weapons, in his own words.
1. DJ Koze ‘Abudinga’ (CDR)

This is one of the toughest tracks I am playing right now.
But it’s not just tough - it has elements that are simple and one step ahead of most of the productions out there at the moment.
It has a story and it’s a track I would never edit - it is simple and is real good from the beginning to the end - that’s why a DJ should play it like this.
2. P. Toile ‘Migration’ (Kolja Remix) (Channels Records)

Koljah
is a very interesting producer from Berlin.
I still have the feeling he is very much underrated because whenever I play tracks by him people want to know what it is.
Check out his other tracks on Vidab
also.

3. Christian Burkhardt ‘Phey Boom’ (Oslo)

Christian Burkhardt
‘Phey Boom’ is simply one of the best tools I have heard in a long time (check it in the player below).
I am pretty sure it will stay in my case for a very long time.
Sure, there will be tons of people that think that there is a hell of a lot of ‘minimal house’ tracks are as good as this one but...they are wrong.
