Words cannot express how happy we are that Beatportal won Best Dance Music Website at the 2010 International Dance Music Awards (IDMAs) last night in Miami.

We are truly humbled that so many of our users came out and voted for us, especially considering the tough competition we were up against.

It’s Beatportal’s first ever award and I’ll admit that I even shed a tear or two when I heard the news.

So much blood, sweat, and dancefloor hours have been invested into Beatportal, which from day one has strived to be a world class hub for DJs and dance music fans.

It hasn’t always been easy - as a media outlet of a digital download store we faced a tough uphill battle to prove that we could educate, inspire, and inform without the supposed freedoms that fully independent editorial outlets enjoy, and the fact that we’ve won this award gives us confidence to keep on blogging.

And we’re equally pleased to announce that Beatport managed to scoop its fifth IDMA award in a row. The store won Best Speciality Retailer at last night’s glittering 25th annual IDMAs. A big thank you to everyone who voted for us!
