Warehouse Project Manchester plans rave beneath city’s streets
10 April, 2007 | 4.15AMFirst they allowed us to rediscover the joys of warehouse raves, now they’re urging us to dance underneath the city streets.
The organisers behind the Warehouse Project in Manchester, England, have announced big plans for a three-day marathon rave session in a secret space beneath the city’s Piccadilly train station.
‘Beneath The Streets’ will take place over the second May Bank Holiday Weekend and highlights once again the recent shift by UK clubland away from traditional, custom-built dance spaces.
Superclubs it ain’t, although the space can hold up to 1800 clubbers.
On Friday 25th May BBC Radio 1’s dance meister Pete Tong
will present an ‘Essential Selection’ party at the venue, which was used as an air raid shelter during the second world war.
Sander Kleinenberg
will also be joining Tong and will be dropping his own dancefloor bombs with an exclusive DVJ set.
The following night, Radio Soulwax will take over the club with sets from 2manyDJs, Vitalic, Niteversions (live), and Andro.
Whilst a drum & bass and hip hop spectacular is planned for Sunday 27th May, with Pendulum, Friction, DJ Yoda, TC (live), and Foreign Beggars.
Tickets are available from www.ticketline.co.uk for £15.
