26 September, 2011 | 9.27AMAfter sneaking their way into quite a few critics’ best-of-2010 lists, Walls (featuring members of Allez Allez and Banjo or Freakout) are back just in time to do it all over again with a new album, Coracle, released once again on Cologne’s Kompakt label.
The new record swings from colorful, left-field house gems to stunning, eyes-closed ambient bliss-out material; with “Sunporch,” you get both in one. The single includes both the punchier album version and a pulsing ambient reprise, along with “Tight Spots,” two minutes of analog freakout that sounds like Emeralds jamming with Robert Hood.
