Video: Paul van Dyk launches iPhone App for DJs

German trance king Paul van Dyk [a] this week announced an iPhone App for DJs that contains a number of tools a DJ might need when they are in a DJ booth (as PvD explains in this QVC-style video sell).

The PvD iPhone app has a BPM counter that can be manually tapped in - useful for nerds in the audience who want to know how fast to dance, and perhaps useful for DJs who aren’t sure how to begin their set.

There’s also a frequency analyser which is “very useful” for working out the frequency of sounds, a noise level meter “to check you’re not going over the limit”, and a seismic reader in case a forthcoming earthquake is about to ruin your set.

A virtual glowstick which changes color, and a torch completes the app.

PvD is the second famous dance music name to hit the iPhone app store: Deadmau5 launched a DJing app in February that allows you to mix some of his tracks.

No information has been released about the availability or pricing of the app, but at this point in time it is not available in the app store.
