Video: How Roger Sanchez builds beats

Roger Sanchez was kind enough to invite Beatportal into his studio in his villa in Ibiza to get a sneak peak of how he builds beats.

The studio session was based around a new remix of his track ‘Bang That Box’ which was released today.

“Logic is my favourite program for sequencing and programming,” Roger Sanchez told us.

“But I also work with Ableton Live behind Logic, which allows me to take loops and beats and test them out quickly.”

In the video, you can see how Roger favors Ableton for testing out loops and samples and building beats, before bouncing them down as an audio track into Logic.

It’s quite interesting to see how he uses both programs for their advantages - Ableton for its speed, and Logic for its professional sound and arrangement/mixdown tools.

‘Bang That Box’ at Release Yourself, Pacha, Ibiza

Roger’s final version of ‘Bang That Box’ has changed quite a lot since the studio session that we filmed, but the track seemed to go down well with Pacha’s clubbers at his Release Yourself club night in Ibiza.
