Video: Caught in a Riot

Video: Caught in a Riot

Swedish dub techno producer Andreas Tilliander [a] drops the first single from his new album ‘Show’ with a kleptomania-rich video that will make enthusiasts of classic synthesizers drool (as well as fine china collectors, oddly).

Featuring the vocals of New Moscow (aka Dave Fransson), ‘Caught In A Riot’ is a catchy upbeat indie-techno tune filled with quirky synth sounds as often as warm guitar samples.

Directed by Olof Werngren, the video is nicely edited to the vocals and synth stabs, while giving gadget-lovers a peep show of various Roland classics like the MC-202, Juno 1, and TR 72, as well as a nice shot of a KORG Vocoder.

Cleary Andreas has a love affair with these machines, as on his myspace he lists his band members as “Some Roland boxes with three digits and a zero in the middle.”

His list of influences is also true to form in his full sophmore album, combining the pure techno elements of Basic Channel, Plastikman, and Adonis, with the dub of Lee Perry and the industrial leanings of Nitzer Ebb.

The result is a complex album of lovely rhythms and hypnotic melodies, with styles ranging from pop and house to techno and dub.
