Video: Booka Shade smash Dissonanze festival
12 May, 2008 | 1.18PM- Section: Videos Topics: Dissonanze
We were lost in Rome, trying to find Booka Shade whilst fighting the temptation to go to a nearby bar and get f*&ked.
In this exclusive footage, we recorded Booka Shade’s Germanic antics in a vintage pizza joint in Rome, followed by them destroying the dance floor at the Palazzo dei Congressi.
Everything nearly screwed up on this day.
The hotel couldn’t give us internet, despite me screaming at them over the reception desk.
When we finally did find Booka Shade, they were as lost as we were.
Off the back of a heavy sound check, one of their crew capitulated and lay incapacitated on the grass for a while.
Inside a nearby restaurant, Booka Shade went deep into their awesome new album called ‘The Sun and the Neon Light’.
Looking back on it, doing an interview in a restaurant wasn’t the best idea.
You couldn’t hear what anyone was saying.
Reviewing the footage and editing it so that it made sense, we were forced to chop off much of Booka’s deep insight.
Walter - one half of Booka Shade - was reduced to a cameo showing a plate of greasy chips to the camera, for Christ’s sake!
Then, when we combined this footage with Booka blowing up the dance floor seven hours later, everything strangely worked.
You’ve all seen the generic ass-kissing videos promoting performers’ work, so it’s actually nice to view the real side of Booka Shade relaxing and having fun.
In their set, you can also hear a new arrangement of their ‘Night Falls’ classic, which sounds more than a little tasty.
