Gel Abril [Be As One]
20 November, 2007 | 4.40PMIs Tel Aviv the new Berlin?
It might be heading that way if tracks like this keep emerging.
Chaim and Gel Abril
are part of an exciting new scene of Israeli producers that also includes Shlomi Amer (who killed clubs everywhere this year with his excellent Ovum club hit ‘Freakside’), Guy Gerber (the Cocoon favourite responsible for Belly Dancing and Sea of Sand), Ito (from Ito & Star the pair behind one of 2007’s biggest crossover tracks, Sudoko Kid) and Chaim, who turns in the killer remix on this nifty EP.
If minimal techno found its way onto the ‘Oceans Eleven’ soundtrack, it might sound a little like this.
Albeit thanks to one key ingredient — a cheeky flute riff that pokes its head out at a couple of points in the track to inject a dose of style onto the dancefloor.
