Vandalsim remix classic Hed Boys track

Vandalism [a] have remixed the classic Hed Boys track ‘Girls & Boys’. These new remixes will be available exclusively through Beatport beginning Thursday, 22nd November, so make sure you check back to download your copies.

Brad Hed is one half of the enigmatic HED BOYS who originally produced this massive Girls & Boys track back in 1995 for the Deconstruction label. Those of you who were expert party people at the time, will know that it became an instant hit and a crazed raver classic, inspiring lots of silly drug-fuelled singalongs. Some of you might even know that Brad Hed was none other than a young Joey Negro in a silly wig (see image)!

Now, after more than 10 years and having resurfaced as a favourite once again on the East London party scene, the Vandalism crew have been charged with reworking the track in their own imitable style, reigniting its soaring popularity among the new wave electro ravers of 2007.

The Oz- based Vandalism crew first rocked dance floors around the world with their catchy single “Never Say Never” topping the Australian Aria Club Chart at No.1 for 8 weeks and reaching No.1 on the UK Buzz charts. Their second single “Twisted” was just as hot and cemented their reputation as a must-have remix duo. The coolest dance tunes of the last year ‘Creeps’ (Freaks), ‘Rise Up’ (Yves La Rock), ‘He Not In’ (Chicken Lips), ‘Canto Del Liberta’ (3rd face) ‘Back Once Again’ (DJ Jeroenski), ‘Automatic Machine’ (Sgt Slick & Pitch Dark) have all benefited from a masterful reworking at their hands.

Sshhh! Silly wigs & ‘taches… A little bit of Hed Boys history…
Brad Hed is none other than legendary house maestro Dave Lee/ Joey Negro…..a man not unfamiliar despite his numerous aliases.  Dave and his production partner back in ’95, Andrew Livingstone, had already secured chart success and were well known to A&Rs across the UK. When “Girls & Boys” sparked a bidding war among labels, the guys decided to amuse themselves by keeping the identity of the Hed Boys under wraps by inventing ridiculous personas for themselves, complete with large unruly wigs, bristling moustaches & outlandish accents. Dave and Andrew, dressed in a variety of ultra silly disguises, held meetings with Deconstruction bosses masquerading as two newbie producers with a killer new dance track. Despite the silly voices and bizarre behaviour, the label signed the deal completely unaware of who the two really were and the scam worked so well, it was some time before they were discovered and revealed to the UK music press.
