, must have been eager with excitement at their revival under the stewardship of Simon Dunmore and the Defected team.
The quality of the output so far has been high with the re-working of classic tracks including Josh Wink’s ‘Higher State of Conciousness’ and ‘Strictly’ albums from heavy hitters like Tiefschwarz.
The most interesting aspect of the rebirth of Strictly Rhythm is the original music they are signing including Todd Terry All Stars club smash ‘Get Down’ and now this EP from newcomer Marlon D.
New York based Marlon D is the man behind Underground Collective and works closely with John ‘Jellybean’ Benitez on the scene has a sound is infused with traditional NYC house flavours.
‘Dance 2 Da Beat’ with a simple vocal hook being carried by the funky bassline, swinging drums and bumpin four to floor beats.
The grandly titled ‘Jesus Creates Sound’ is all about the tribal beats and sound effects on a pure groove track.
‘Deep Spiritual Journey’ does pretty much what the name implies with a lush deep house pads and tripped out synths that showcases Marlon’s production talent to the max.
