Under The Influence Album Sampler EP 3
BK [Riot! Recordings]
25 October, 2007 | 12.44PM- Section: Music Reviews
BK continues to showcase tracks from his critically acclaimed album ‘Under The Influence’ with this two track sampler EP.
First up is ‘Mine’s A Double’ that’s been shaking and stirring hard dance crowds from taste maker plays in recent weeks, with an energetic pace and effervescent arrangement keeping the soundscape evolving from start to finish.
Kicking off with a bubbling bassline and then hitting your senses with waves of horn stabs, soaring sound effects and vintage synths, this sinister sounding number builds up an unstoppable head of steam by the peak.
If ‘Mine’s A Double’ delivers a timely taster of the cutting edge sounds of now, the other track on this release transports us back in time to the golden era of hard house as BK gives a ‘Back To 99’ reworking to ‘Systematic’.
The script here is simple yet effective as BK sticks close to the style and sound of his Nukleuz releases of the time, such as the ‘Hardbeat’ series of EPs.
Here, he lets loose with energetic stabs, a highly charged lead riff and hectic breakdown sequence that throws everything into the arrangement.
All in all, this is another powerhouse performance from one of the scene’s foremost producers.
