Umek Remix Contest Winners Announced

Umek’s “Slap” is one of the Slovenian producer’s signature hits, and back in April, we gave you the chance to get your own hands on the parts—and for a good cause, at that: Umek and 1605 donated the proceeds from stems sales to Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief efforts.

Now, Umek and his 1605 crew have listened to all the entries, and they’ve made their decisions. Read on to listen to the winners.

First Place: Acida Corporation

The winning remix comes from Italy’s Acida Corporation, an act that already numbers a handful of releases on Beatport; learn more about them on their Facebook page.

As the first-place winner, Acida Corporation will not only have their remix released on 1605; they also take home Native Instruments Traktor Pro 2, Traktor Kontrol X1, an online course in music production from Point Blank, and $200 in Beatport credit.

Second Place: Elio Ks

The second-place winner is Spain’s Elio Ks, a producer who has released a variety of techno, tech house, progressive, and more for labels like Univack and Audiotactil. (Hear more on his SoundCloud page.)

In addition to having his remix released on 1605, Elio takes home Native Instruments’ Traktor Duo 2.

Third Place: Sheff

The third-place prize goes to Israel’s Sheff, a techno producer who has remixed Phunk Investigation and appeared on Echoes Records, Open Records, and even 1605’s recent compilation The Riot!. In addition to having his remix released on 1605, he also takes home Native Instruments’ Traktor Duo 2.

Top Spun: Danny Vibe

Finally, the top spun entry comes from Malta’s Danny Vibe, a producer with releases on Night Mode Malta and Housepital Records, among others; learn more on his Facebook page. Danny takes home $50 in Beatport credit.
