Umek drops his banging rhythms

As Slovenia’s answer to Carl Cox, Umek has always been known for his harder-edge banging techno sounds.
But his latest two releases on Steve Bug’s prolific Audiomatique Recordings record label show a gentler and more melodic side to the producer.
With swirling synths, a groovy bassline, and plenty of white noise, ‘Akul’ is one of Umek’s most harmonious tunes to date, and is sure to be played by DJs across the board.
‘Complikator’ further reveals Umek’s softer side, and is a bubbly tech house number that is a lot more groovy than his previous records like ‘Pharmacid’ and ‘Mirage 01’.
The old adage that states we prefer softer music as we get older seems to be true in Umek’s case.
