Two faced Fedde Le Grand and his Toolroom mix
Two faced Fedde Le Grand and his Toolroom mix
11 April, 2010 | 7.20AMFedde Le Grand
has just released a new mix compilation for Toolroom, which showcases the Dutch star’s split studio personality.
One CD, mixed under his alias FLG, pushes a dark and heady club sound, with peak time bombs coming from Daniel Portman, Solomun, and Mark Mendes. The mix pulsates with late night trips and fist pumping bass monsters.
The other CD, which comes from Fedde Le Grand simply, pushes uplifting progressive house and electro from the likes of Hauswerks and Mark Knight.
Confused by the difference? We were too, so we asked Fedde to guide us through his favourite tracks in the mix, to help explain the two paths he seems to find himself exploring in equal measure these days.
CD1 Mixed By F.L.G.
F-Man & F.L.G. ‘An Old Technique’
It has been some time since I’ve gone into the studio with Funkerman to do a production, but I’m super happy with the results of this one. It has a really funky vibe behind the beats, and fitted in perfectly with what I wanted to do with the mix.
Solomun Feat. Ole Soul ‘Cloud Dancer’
‘Cloud Dancer’ is quite simply one of the best deep house / techno tracks I’ve heard lately. I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it. It’s an absolutely amazing track.
Mark Mendes & Mike Jacinto ‘Molly’
I just can’t get enough of Mark Mendes at the moment. He’s a super talented Canadian and this track with Mike Jacinto underlines why I’m such a massive fan of his production work.
Croatia Squad ‘Electric Masquerade’ (Daniel Portman More Carnival Remix)
‘Electric Masquerade’ has been in and out of my record box non-stop at the moment. The first time I heard it, I was blown away by the sound quality of the production and the way it manages to build up the atmosphere. Killer track.
Neuroxyde vs Doomwork ‘Jazzy Stuff’
‘Jazzy Stuff’ has just got one of those grooves that sucks you in all the way through the production. It works incredibly well on the dancefloor and was perfect for the middle of the mix to work up the tempo.
CD2 Mixed By Fedde Le Grand
Johnstar Feat. MC Spyder ‘Tick Tock Track’ (Julian Sennels & Ben Bastion Remix)
I really wanted to include this track on the mix because I’m super proud of the way I’ve seen Johnstar really grow as a producer. I’m really happy that I was able to put one of this tracks on my CD and get his sound out for other people to listen to and appreciate the way I do.
Steve Bug ‘Swallowed Too Much Bass’ Feat. Paris The Black Fu (Joris Voorn Remix)
What can you really say about this remix, it’s just Joris Voorn at his best, nuff said!
Hauswerks ‘Chunk’
‘Chunk’ by Hauswerks does exactly what it says on the tin. Funky jackin’ stuff to the max. Hauswerks have been on my radar for a while now and I think a lot of other people’s too. I’m really interested to see what else they deliver in 2010.
Marcus Kaes ‘Do Bing’ (Dominik de Leon Remix)
‘Do Bing’ is actually the first record I signed from tracks put up by bedroom producers on my online community. It got a lot of praise from guys on the site and it caught my eye straight away. I’m really proud that the guys from Toolroom felt the same and we could put it on the album.
Mark Knight V Koen Groeneveld ‘Put Your Hands Up’ (Mark Knight Remix)
Last but not least, is my main man Mark, head honcho of Toolroom. He always delivers in the studio, and this track is solid as always. What better way is there to round off the mix?
