Tu Mi Turbi
Tu Mi Turbi
Rodion [Gomma]
24 October, 2007 | 11.52AMThese electro disco space warriors from Italy describe their sound as “Casiocore romanticism” and their signing to Gomma
as “absorbing the right dose of Italo and Cosmic radiations”.
Equipped with the seemingly inherent mastery of Italo disco that comes through simply originating from the same country as Giorgio Moroder, these guys don’t take themselves too seriously; they use their talents to delight rather than impress.
‘Franziskaaner’ opens with a sleazy electro groove and something which sounds like a warped sample of the Ghostbusters theme tune, culminating into an intelligent head nodding electro session.
‘Tu Mi Turbi’ is jacking electro breaks that bleeds through into a sleazy Fischerspooner electro finale, pimping the track’s versatility out like an audio lady of the night.
‘Via Lactea’, the most retro and spacey sounding track on the EP, is also a winner.
A truly great EP with all three tracks being of equal merit, every sound plays an essential role and is maxed out in Rodion’s cosmic showcase.
Indeed, if you were a synth or a Casio key note in one of these tracks, you’d be left feeling pretty used by the end of it.
If only you could end this and Rodion
didn’t make you feel so good — those smooth Italian bastards!
