Trouble

Trouble

Tom Pooks [Ovum Recordings]

It’s all about the Wink Re Do on Ovum’s latest killer release.

Like every great artist, Josh has the ability to disappear for months on end and then pop up with a brace of releases that remind everyone whose boss.

Most DJs with an ear for the underground are currently hammering his forthcoming remix of Taho ‘Shamballa’, or still playing his ridiculously nasty interpretation of Radioslave’s Screaming Hands.

His remix of Trouble is a cauldron of Wink fierceness, that wrings every last bit of weirdness out of the unsettling, mangled sound that works as the track’s hook.

Surprisingly, the acid squiggles of his trademark 303 aren’t present, but his dedication to creating those peak time club moments that he’s best know for is as strong as ever.

“Whenever people describe my music as drug music, I always say, ‘Oh, I make drug music now, do I?,” says Josh.

Well for a tee totaling DJ, his appreciation of the weird and warped side of dance music is as potently narcotic as music can get.

With records as unsettlingly magnificent as this, who needs drugs.
