Trendy Mullet return with a nod to the old school!

Trendy Mullet return with a nod to the old school!

Having started the label a few years ago as an avenue to “release whatever we wanted, without having to conform to a certain sound”

Trendy mullet is currently catching the eyes of some of the most important players in the electronic music scene of today with their unique knack of breaking new talent.

It’s no wonder why people like Luke Solomon [a], Nils Nurnberg [a], Inland Knights [a], Deepchild [a], SLAM and Luca Doobie [a] are taking keen interest on what the label are doing.

The 17th instalment from them showcases the debut release from London based house producer Rich T.

TM017 // RICH T - THAT FEELING

Remixes from TOM ELLIS (TRIMSOUND, HARTCHEF DISCOS) & DREW TEMPEST (QUIRK BURGLARS)

Here’s what mucuppat reviewer Lee Jarvis had to say…

The original mix of That Feeling is a classic piece of grooving house music. Soulful vocal samples and bouncing bassline keep things funky, as layers of hi hats and snares lunge in and out. Slightly melancholic chords enter at the break, looping and panning around the mix. More spoken word samples are sprinkled throughout the rest of the track to help fill some gaps.

Tom Ellis takes things in a tech-y direction, developing the moody chords and soul-dripping vocals and adding bass thuds and electronic warps and glitches. Tom’s drum programming and arrangement is very tight, and he keeps things clean and punchy, for maximum dancefloor effect.

Finally, Drew Tempest turns in one of his strongest remixes to date. Rolling percussion and powerful bassline give it trademark Drew/Quirk flavour, and the loopy, chugging chords of the original stab throughout. Snappy snares are layered on to help to give the track pace, and other crisp percussion punctuates the builds and drops. All in all, a very strong selection of mixes.

Just Drew to round off the release in great style, a warm bumping groove with a shade more energy than the other cuts, excellent stuff.”
Chris Carrier “Great Tom Ellis remix”
