Trainspotting at Berlin’s Panorama Bar, Nov 30th
11 December, 2007 | 3.51PMThere are certin parties in this city of parties that draws out the professional raving crowd.
Perlon’s occasional shindig at Panorama Bar is one of these and Saturday’s epic raveathon didn’t dissapoint.
Perhaps it was the presence of Ricardo Villalobos
[above].
Or perhaps it’s the unending quality of Perlon releases that drums up the dancefloor but by 3pm on Saturday night / Sunday afternoon when the last record played the dancefloor was still throbbing with a sizeable contingent of sweaty, euphoric ravers.
Musically the night was lead by Perlon artist Sammy D, label head honcho Zip who surprisingly in this scribe’s opinion out played the ever excellent Ricardo, who must surely lay a claim to being the world’s current best underground DJ.
All three are masters of mixing the cutting edge of quality underground music with gems from the past that demand rediscovery.
The highlight of these history lessons for me was the excellent ‘In Your Soul’ by Latino Circus from 1995.
Also get a sniffing for a new Matt John track [check out his tunes in the player below] entitled ‘Boing Hi Fly’ due out on Perlon in April and his current Berlin smash ‘Olga Dancekowski’ with an equally excellent Matthew Dear mix on Bar25 Records. Get hunting!
