Strange Feeling, Buzzin’ Fly’s indie-leaning sub-label, released another set of Tracey Thorn remixes today. Back in June, they had Morgan Geist, Michel Cleis, and Andre Lodemann all reworking Thorn’s ‘Why Does the Wind?’; now a diverse set of remixers tackles the songs ‘Swimming’, ‘Kentish Town’ and ‘Late in the Afternoon’, which are also included in their original versions.

The most anticipated offering here is likely to be Visionquest’s remix of ‘Swimming’, featuring Cortney Tidwell. Visionquest, of course, is the freeform collaboration between Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, and Lee Curtis, and this dreamy, nine-minute remix shows a remarkably different side of the notorious party boys.

Kompakt’s Walls follow up recent remixes for The Field and Pantha Du Prince, as well as their contribution to the new ‘Total 11’ compilation, with a ‘Kentish Town’ remake that splits the difference between Thorn’s acoustic pop and Walls’ own ambient, Krautrock leanings.

Finally, Blue Daisy, of the leftfield beat music/future garage label Black Acre Records, comes correct with a mix that’ll please all the Hyperdub fans out there.

“If the remixes for the last single ‘Why Does The Wind?’ were aimed at the dancefloor, these are perhaps aimed more at the head”, says Thorn. “People often only remember the dance remixes I have been involved with, and forget the great futuristic re-works of my voice over the years by people like Photek, Omni Trio, and Howie B. If my versions of my songs are often plain and direct, these mixes add question marks and blind alleys, and I like that. It adds a different colour and makes them closer to my work with Massive Attack perhaps.”
