Top Track: Wighnomy Brothers ‘From: Disco To Disco’ (Wighnomy’s Mittmikks)

One of the best tracks of 2006 was the Wighnomy Brothers own Mittmikks remix of their track ‘From: Disco To Disco’.

It’s very rare to find an electronic music track with humour that doesn’t involve some crude language.

But ‘From: Disco To Disco’ makes me laugh every time I hear it, and it’s a simple honest record.

The vocals, which are sung badly out of tune, sound like they came straight from a recording session where the vocalist couldn’t pull it together.

He keeps falling into giggles, and the Wighnomy Brothers (being the super talented producers that they are) thought it would be fun to just leave the bad vocals in, giggling n’ all.

The result is a karaoke-style minimal techno track that leaves you feeling like you were there, recording the vocals with them.

It’s so personal, unique and special.

But despite the happiness and laughter of the song, at the end you’re left feeling a little sad.

Because a sepia-tinted memory has awakened, reminding of a time of youthful innocence when life was just about having fun with your friends.
