Top Track: ‘Why Do’
Top Track: ‘Why Do’
Noah Pred [Thoughtless Music]
14 July, 2008 | 2.54PMNoah Pred is planning club nights in Toronto, and recently returned from Sonar in Spain to his home of Toronto.
But hot on the heels of this recent activity, Noah Pred has a release in which he does his own vocals where he asks the question, “Why do we do what we do?”
The title track has a distorted electro vocal and bouncy bass in addition to some jazzy keys.
It lasts for nearly ten minutes, and it’s a great track.
‘Take Heart’ is a bit deeper and slightly more heady.
It starts out fairly even and grounded, and then gets more celestial as it introduces more highs and lows to create a very full and steady track.
‘No Love Is Enough’ is more dub inspired, with nice long key stabs and luscious synths that come in fairly early on in the track.
It starts out with vocals which sound like a recorded phone conversation, Noah reveals were actually recorded in a taxi cab.
The underlying rhythms that pick up are almost Latin-sounding.
There’s a nice jazz key touch on this track, too.
By far this track is the one most for dub fans and intelligent music fans.
This is a sound that Pred does very well, and is reminiscent of much of his other work as a dub techno artist under the name of Shen.
Listeners who are a fan of this sound can also check out his 2006 album ‘Outlines’ on Native State Records.
