13 August, 2008 | 3.27PMVincenzo has played a big part in Steve Bug‘s Dessous label for years now, contributing to the German House sound.
And while his last release called ‘The Resident’ out on Dessous was in the disco-tech genre, with this release for Poker Flat
Vincenzo
tries something a little more techno sounding.
The Phantom Image is dubby minimal techno at its best.
Stripped down and refined at first, it builds into a dancefloor classic with claps and acid bleeps.
It has a vocal that is catchy and the pace is great for a peak-time party.
About mid-way in the track the song starts to twist and turn – ‘is anyone dizzy yet?’
It’s a great track that almost seems to ask the audience to feel the moment and loose control.
‘The Fruit Fly’ original has a slower paced intro comprised of off-kilter shuffle beats.
But by mid-track the vibe is pumping with another heavier bass-line, and Vincenzo introduces some great cerebral sounding synths too.
Once again another track on his EP filled with feel-good sounds made to move to.
Equally pleasing, ‘The Fruit Fly (Fruity Steve Bug Edit)’ is a bit more filtered and distorted with a nice drop into the second part of the track after a shortened introduction.
This EP is Highly Recommended for the dancefloor.
Also Note: Vincenzo has just been nominated in the deep house category for the DJ Awards 2008.
