Top Track: Prompt ‘Evolve’ (7Noise)

One of the great things about blogging about music is that you can react to hype as it happens.

On first listen to the preview of ‘Evolve’ by Prompt, I didn’t think it was anything particularly special, but then it started to rise high in the Beatport Top 10 this week [currently it is at No.6].

Minimal techno doesn’t often make the Top 10 of Beatport, so I downloaded it to see what all the fuss was about.

And listening to the track in its entirety, the groove became much clearer.

This is quality minimal.

Much like Kabale Und Liebe & Daniel Sanchez’ unstoppable ‘Mumbling Yeah’, ‘Evolve’ features a trippy male vocal loop that works perfectly with the simple bass and drum loops.

Subtle reverb changes and some white noise propel the energy of the track forward, which is monotonously infectious.

Safety in numbers, then. Trust the crowd.
