Top Track: ‘Perfect Circles’

Top Track: ‘Perfect Circles’ (Reboot Remix)

Alex Flatner [Circle Music]

The Cadenza up-and-comer reworks the original into a warped and wonky big tune.

Germany’s Reboot (or Frank Heinrich as the taxman knows him) has had an impressive start to his career so far.

His first release Be Tougher/Letters found its way onto Luciano’s esteemed Cadenza label and as a remixer he’s been in demand from labels like Richie Hawtin’s Conaissseur and Supplement Facts.

On this he takes Alex Flatner’s tough and tense original and completely flips the script.

‘Perfect Circles’ is all about its vocal and Frank uses it as the centrepiece for an impressive wonky house rework.

Where the original is all white noise-saturated, peak time techno, Frank slows the pace to develop a deep grooving bassline led track that’s been killing techy house dancefloors on promo play.

Like his other tracks he uses skippy percussion that jumps off an off beat groove to create a jacking minimal house vibe.

Its all credit to Alex Flatner that the vocal - easily one of the quirkiest and stand out of the year so far - is the centrepoint of the tune.

But while the original’s peak time thrashing energy takes it in one direction, on the Reboot mix it finds a home tagged onto a club whalloping groove.

Damian Schwartz delivers a second tasty remix also which shouldn’t be overlooked but for wall-slapping, tear the walls down funk, Reboot’s mix is heard to beat.
