K.I.M. [Modular]
14 August, 2008 | 3.32PMUnder his K.I.M.
guise and away from the international pop glare of The Presets, K.I.M is happy to weave his way through the more credible realms of techno-infused banging electro house and produce punch-packed dance floor candy like this and his previous EP ‘Fistogram’.
In a veritable showcase of aliases, this one also comes complete with two dons of the space disco world, Emperor Machine (in another life known as one half of Chicken Lips) and Tomboy (aka the drummer from Who Made Who)
The Emperor Machine mix is truly intriguing, full of analogue sounds, squelches and measured tempos with a creeping unexpectedness around every corner. The ultimate space warrior producer reigns supreme.
Tomboy unsurprisingly builds his disco punk style remix from the drums up, laying over cowbells, cymbals and what sounds like electronic duck samples into a cheeky and dangerously simple mix that is exciting in all the right places
If they really wanted to warp our minds these three could start a band, under new aliases of course. If they did Beatport would be in the front row.
