Top Track: Luciano breaks the silence with a club destroying remix

The underground’s iconic techno troubadour is back to remind us who’s boss.

While he may be roasting the dancefloors of Europe’s top clubs and festivals this Summer, El Tache’s production output has been quiet of late.

We’ve been reliably informed this is due to his concentration on a new artist album due out at the end of this year.

Beatportal has heard one track that the Chilean underground star’s been playing as his last tune and it’s fittingly epic.

To keep the trainspotters ticking over until his album finally hits shops he’s turned in a new remix on the ever excellent Circus Company label.

Dave Aju’s Circus favourite Dave Aju’s ‘Crazy Place’ is the lead track from the San Francisco based artist’s upcoming debut album – itself an exciting exercise in experimental electronica.

While the original is all about downbeat blissed out electronica Luciano reworks the track into an engaging piece of dancefloor intensity.

The remix retains the vocal of the original track, enlisting it at the beginning in the form of chopped up snippets of Aju whispering.

Luciano’s trademark approach to tense percussion and futuristic rhythms is as strong as ever as the track unfolds layering fold after fold of effects laden drums as the track progresses.

And similarly to his other releases, at just under eleven minutes length his remix is typically hypnotic hybridised house and techno stretched out to its full potential.

As the track develops the “try to hide” vocal hook emerges amongst the cacophony of tense beats interchanging with a guitar line and a final electric piano solo that takes the track up a notch into that special emotive place that Luciano is best known for reaching in his DJ sets and production.

Tracks of this length are often criticised for never fulfilling their potential or providing the dancefloor with a payoff.

Luciano’s remix however delivers a special moment of emotive intensity that will hold dancefloors in goosebump raising suspense all summer long.
