Just three releases in and Christian Burkhardt [the man on the right of this pic] is really developing his sound which is a hybrid of wobbly minimal and bass heavy tech house.

Here on ‘Doubledub’ he flirts with vocals for the first time, twisting and pitch-shifting a female vocal into an infectious rhythmic pattern whilst laying it over a warbling bassline.

It’s a solid slice of bass trickery that is sure to tear up the underground ‘floors this summer.

As for the rest of Christian Burkhardt’s ‘Doubledub’ EP, be sure to check out the Beatport exclusive track ‘Ovaco’ which straddles the divide between deep house and tech house perfectly.

Sounding not unlike a Johnny D house roller, ‘Ovaco’ chugs along at a perfect house tempo whilst shaky drum loops trickle over the top.

Keep an eye on this German, he could be a star of the underground by the time 2008 plays out.
