It’s a risky business remixing classic tunes. You wouldn’t want to get accused of ruining an anthem.

But Cosmic Gate can’t seem to do anything wrong (well, apart from the release of ‘Fire Wire’ perhaps, but, hey, that was so long ago now it can be easily forgotten about).

The German trance duo have taken Veracocha ‘Carte Blanche’, one of the greatest trance tunes of all time, and given it a makeover by remixing it to make it harder – the perfect track to hear when you’re really going for it at 4 AM on a packed dance floor.

No one can accuse them of not working hard enough on this track—it’s definitely a variation on the original, but they’ve managed to keep it just as powerful.

As soon as Cosmic Gate’s signature dirty bassline resides to reveal that infamous melody, the happy clubbing memories of the days when trance was at its peak come flooding back.

Challenging though it is to remix a track as highly regarded as ‘Carte Blanche’ (which is the result of a one-off collaboration between Ferry Corsten and Vincent de Moor, working under the name ‘Veracocha’), Cosmic Gate have done a fantastic job of reworking an old classic.

It’s definitely one of their best remixes to date.
