Top 100 Tracks of 2010: #100-71

When we decided to run down the top 100 tracks of the year, we were presented with a quandary: who would be the final arbiter of the list? Beatport’s editors and merchandising staff? Nah, too picky. Should we base it on sales data, pure and simple? Too predictable, perhaps. Instead, we decided to take the path we always prefer, and listen to the DJs.

To come up with our final tally, we pulled the thousands of DJ charts that were submitted to Beatport this year, and ran a similar algorithm to the one that we use to determine the 50 most charted tracks every month. In the case of ties, we factored in chart position as well. (That is, if two different tracks were each charted 100 times, the track that got the most #1 placements got a higher score.)

We kick off with #100 through #71; we’ll continue publishing the list throughout the week. Read on for the first installment, and let us know what you think about the results!
