Welcome to the wonderful world of Stickman Records.

Well, anyway, a small sampling of it.  Label owner Greg Zwarich treats us to an aural stroll down memory lane with some of the finest house music ever to come out of Ontario, Canada… or anywhere for that matter.

Stickman Records churned out over 100 house and tech house releases between 1993 and 2003, which in today’s digital times may seem like an easy task.  But with only vinyl as a format and the cost of distribution, reaching 100 releases throughout the 90’s is a measure of true success.

Such longevity is easy to explain, though, when you consider this is a catalogue which includes the underground hits ‘C Lime Woman’ by TPM, Hollis P. Monroe’s ‘I’m Lonely’, and Josh Wink’s remix of the Mood II Swing bomb ‘The Slippery Track’.

It was a DJ’s label with tunes not intended to be hits or meant for radio, but that worked very well on the dance floor all the same.  Again, not a feat easily accomplished.

As if that weren’t enough, Greg launched sublabel Aquarius Recordings in 1996 with a goal to be more disco/funk/jazz oriented, complete with purposely erroneous release dates in the 70’s to make them seem more authentic. 

With a catalogue of over 50 releases, including dancefloor smashers like ‘Soul Grabber 3’ and ‘Motorcross Madness’, its safe to say that the case was made for the label to be just as respectable and sought-after as any disco label from two decades earlier.

Between these fine labels and their combined 150+ releases, Stickman was a staple for 90’s house and tech house DJs and enthusiasts alike; and deservedly so.
