Toolroom Knights mixed by Gabriel and Dresden

Toolroom Knights return with the next instalment of their DJ-led mix albums.  Reflecting the underground sound of the label, this time round mixing duties have been bestowed upon producer/DJ duo Gabriel & Dresden, who prove here why fans and critics have hailed them as the future sound of electronic music. Voted ‘Best American DJ’ at this year’s Winter Music Conference International Dance Music Award (IDMA), an already amazing year for the pair is now capped off in fine style with the unveiling of Toolroom Knights.

Exploring a more organic and textural musical landscape on this double disc collection, G&D adeptly blend sounds from indie rock band Junior Boys to Claude Von Stroke, Apparat, and The Knife.  This collection brings the debut of Gabriel & Dresden’s popular remix of the Killers “Read My Mind,” and includes exclusive tracks such as Gabriel & Dresden’s re-interpretation of label boss Mark Knight’s (with D. Ramirez) “Columbian Soul,” their remix of Monochrome “Pearl,” and Shlomi Aber & Itamar Sagi’s “Blonda.” Unreleased Josh Gabriel tracks “Summit” and “Crosstalk” gives a peak into the solo records he’s quietly making.

Reconstructing and editing most tracks for this album, the San Francisco based duo have spent an age putting together this exceptional two disc mix, carefully selecting tracks that encapsulate the true sound of Gabriel & Dresden right now as DJ’s. Each CD takes you on a journey, evoking different moods and emotions. This is an exciting release for both Toolroom Records & Gabriel & Dresden, and an exceptional music lesson for all who listen.

“When asked whether we would be interested in doing a compilation for Toolroom, we immediately said yes!  We knew that this forward thinking label would be the perfect platform to release tracks that had never been heard outside a club, and capture the musical diversity and inspiration of our DJ sets.”—Gabriel & Dresden
