and a number of other top dance producers have resurrected one of the 20th Century’s most popular jazz vocalists, Billie Holiday, for a special tribute anthology.
‘Billie Holiday: Remixed & Reimagined’ on Legacy Recordings (out in August) taps some of electronic music’s most sought-after remixers to reinterpret the female jazz artist’s classic recordings for a new generation.
New York-based DJ Tony Humphries has radically re-envisioned Holiday’s ‘But Beautiful’ into a pumping deep house groove, whilst fellow DJ and turntablist DJ Logic has modernized ‘Glad To Be Unhappy’.
Ladybug Mecca from the Grammy Award-winning Digable Planets has turned ‘Spreading Rhythm ‘Round’ into a chunky broken beat funk slow-burner.
