Tom Dazing & Gols launch their Thrill Recordings label

As the new year is slowly grinding back into the right gear, it also makes way for the birth of new ideas and projects. After months and months of planning, belgian nightlife treasures Tom Dazing [a] and Gols [a] step up to the plate with their own label Thrill Recordings. They will be focussing on releasing music from unknown yet promising artists besides their own material. If you know that they just signed tracks to infamous labels such as Monique Musique [l], Circle [a] and recently also did a vinyl for Coincidence Records [l], you should know pretty much what to expect… Coming to you beginning of February 2011 with a first release by the label bosses themselves.

As their label PR girl Sara states it:

Our musical children Tom Dazing & Gols began by exploring their own musical road. When Tom decided it was time to purchase a mixing panel to get started on his musical journey, Gols had already discovered the fulfillment it could bring. When he put his old mixing panel for sale, the two of them met and Tom ended up buying it.  It soon became clear that they both felt the same passion for electronic music and besides spinning banging sets at clubs and parties they were soon drawn to the production side of things.

It was time to take a walk on the wild side. Our boys started by throwing parties in Ghent called ‘Thriller’ and the label was soon to be the logical result of these parties.
When they try to explain why the label was baptised as ‘Thrill Recordings’ it soon became clear that the word Thrill itself has a lot of connotations and altered meanings to it, free for own interpretation and that’s exactly how they would define their music on the label. There’s a mysterious edge about it and it can refer to a situation where a transition in your body took place. The fact that Michael Jackson died two days before their second edition of the Thriller, that is merely a coincidence they assured me.

Tom & Gols want to give local producers a chance to enfold themselves on the label. Belgium¹s music scène yearns for fresh and innovating talent. If you
look at new beat it is clear that Belgium once had a lot of pioneers when it came to electronic music but today there¹s a small overkill of musicians
from all over the globe. There are mostly good dj¹s who¹s passions lie in playing at clubs and that¹s beginning to change around here. They become
intrigued to make something of their own rather then playing what is already known.

The classics we know from ten years ago are still classics today and will probably never fade away, but today¹s music scene is so broad and so
versatile that it¹s hard to make something timeless. The Thriller sound is mostly broad and mysterious because it can grow in many directions that way.
Wild sounds are civilized into time and tune. The analogue sounds throughout the EP give a warmer touch to it. It doesn¹t sound so clean-cut, cold and
perfectly timed like some of the tracks today.
