Tokyo: Club Yellow’s closing week lineup announced

Whether you like to accept the fact or not, the clock is ticking.

In about 5 weeks time, Tokyo’s Club Yellow is going to close its doors.

Now the question is, who gets to DJ there on its historical closing nights on Friday the 20th and Saturday the 21st of June 2008?

Here’s the lineup for the whole closing week.

Monday 16 - Japanese Jazz DJ all stars

DJ: United Future Organization, Jazz Brothers Production, Kei Kobayashi, Tatsuo Sunaga, Shinichi Osawa (Mondo Grosso), Tomoyuki Tanaka (Fantastic Plastic Machine), Shuya Okino, Toshio Matsuura and more

A cream of domestic Jazz DJs to come together for the night.

Tuesday 17 - Escape presents ‘Beyond The Dance’

DJ: Derrick May

A hugely popular Detroit techno originator to fly in just for the night!

Don’t miss this rare occasion to enjoy his long set with one of the best sound systems in the world.

Wednesday 18 - ‘Love Saves The Day’ release party

DJ: Danny Krivit
LIVE: Rochelle Fleming (First Choice)

A release party for the Japanese translation of a book on David Mancuso, ‘Love Saves The Day.’

A virtual trip to the NYC’s classic era.

Thursday 19 - Distortion

DJ: Fumiya Tanaka

The host DJ of one of the most popular residencies at Club Yellow, Chaos, to make his last appearance. 

‘Distortion’ was the first resident night he had at the club.

Friday 20 - Closing party

DJ: Laurent Garnier

14 years after his first appearance at the club, he was also there to celebrate its 15th anniversary.

One of the world’s best techno DJs is going to take charge of its ending, as well.

Saturday 21 - Closing party

DJ: Francois K.

Not surprised. Who else could it be?

This living dance music legend is one of the very few DJs who was there from the beginning.

Having played at the club numerous times for the past 16 years, he knows it all.
