Leave it up to the holidays for a ‘Magical Creature’ to emerge on one of San Francisco’s best local labels.  The original mix comes from the UK team of Felix Dickenson and Toby Tobias, who offer a 115bpm dirty disco affair.  Thick plucked bass lines and a collective of spacey synths take you on a psychedelic ride, driving deeper into your right brain as the tracks progresses.

The duo of Nick Chacona and Anthony Mansfield (who also manage the label) offer more of an upfront tech-house version similar to their recent work remixing Greenskeepers for OM and Sasse for Mood Music.  They smooth out the bassline and layer some jacking drums while keeping with the funky vibe of the original.  Q-BURNS remix could pass for an instrumental by the Talking Heads, and he adds some moody keys and slick slide-guitar action.  Seems the likely choice for a memorable sunrise selection.
