This Week in House

We are back with another week in house, recapping some big house records of 2007, as well as mentioning some upcoming bits for 2008.

There are so many tracks that are worthy of noting, but it’s only possible to highlight a few.

These are the ones that have stuck out for me and have been spun like a web.

In charts, we have our Best of 2007 theme featuring DJ top 10s from Milk & Sugar, Seamus Haji, Raul Rincon, Alan Braxe, The Timewriter, Jochen Posh, Yves Murasca, Swayzak and many others.

Dirty South ‘Let It Go’ (Axwell Remix)

The last few years have been so strong for the Swedish Don, Axwell.

Who could deny the power of this record?

It’s got that hair splitting, spine tingling feel when you drop it.

With its universal appeal on the dancefloor, this record mends styles of house that only a few producers can accomplish so well.

It’s no wonder this soon to be classic record sat at No. 1 for weeks.

DJ Disciple ‘Changes’ (NYC Sexy Mix)

This funky electro spoken word track shot up the charts to No. 1 shortly after its release on Beatport.

DJ Disciple [right] lays down The Godfather-like vocals and breaks down what the word changes means in the world we call house.

DJ DLG ‘Your Eyes’ (Original Mix)

DJ DLG turns out a French house banger.

The simple hook track rocks the floor with the perfect amount of side chain effect.

This is a peak time track that will continue to move floors for years to come.

Dave Armstrong ‘Love Has Gone’ (Original Mix)

With the high chart positions ‘Love Has Gone’ has received, the record has now picked up a pace licensing to territories around the world from Kingdom Kome in Germany to Dinky in Australia.

A line up of stellar mixes from D.O.N.S. & DBN, Fonzarelli, Peter Gelderblom and DJ DLG.

A must have for the crate, either virtual or physical.

Jesse Garcia ‘Survive’ (Original Mix)

2007 was a huge year for producer Jesse Garcia.

Although not as tribal as many of Jesse’s other productions, the funky beats of ‘Survive’ swing and create a groove perfect for building a monster DJ set.

The electronic stabs give it a touch of electro without going over the top.

A true staple of 2007.

Milk & Sugar ‘Stay Around (For This)’ Remixes [Milk & Sugar]

Originally released 1993, Milk & Sugar pull this release from the catalog and commission the proper retouch to create a few massive multi-mix packages.

The 2007 Mixes are from Syke’n’Sugarstarr [main image], Yves Murasca, Till West & DJ Delicious, Eddie Thoneick, Plasik Funk, DJ Java and Gabi Newman.

The new mixes bring ‘Stay Around’ back up to the front of the book.

Coming up for February

Also keep your ears open for the new Superbass ‘Solution’ on Toolroom, with mixes from Peter Gelderblom & Muzikjunki, Seb Fontaine & Alax Blanco, Jorgensen, Bent and several others TBA.

There are new house mixes of the trance classic ‘Perfect Motion’ by James Fitch and Ingo Staar already supported by a list of top DJs such as Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo, D Ramirez, Hoxton Whores, Noir, Mark Wilkinson, Rob Tissera, Belocca, Granite & Phunk and Rob Marmot.

Currently in its promo phase, Younan Music [Saeed Younan pictured right] will drop a big tribal track ‘Rude Boy’ with a killer electro house remix by Miami’s Robbie Rivera.

Out now on Southern Fried Records is a well done cut-up of the original Mighty Dub Katz ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ by Tocadisco — currently hovering at No. 1 on the house chart.

There is so much great music ahead of us for 2008.

As we wait in anticipation, our passion for this music continues to grow as new production talent develops and legends explore new musical dimensions.

Till next time. Log on. Get Down.
