Blaze Imprints

Industry veteran Kevin Hedge continues his entrepreneurial endeavors with the launch of his newest brand, Blaze Imprints.

The duo known as Blaze have been making integral, quintessential dance hits for over two decades.

It is here, with Blaze Imprints, that Hedge hopes to realize his dream of, as he calls it, “the tri-fecta” — the undisputed success as a recording artist, a nightclub owner and record label owner.

Larry Heard and Alleviated Records

House legend Larry Heard is from Chicago, Illinois.

He emerged publicly in 1985 from the roots of ‘House Music’ with the debut single ‘Mystery of Love’.

This domain is where he found an outlet for his musical ideas, even though they seem to link an extensive variety of styles.

Most people who have followed his music think of him as a multi-keyboardist, even though his development was as a drummer and percussionist in local jazz, rock, R&B and reggae bands dating back to 1977.

Enthralled by his swift hand movements as he DJed and dabbled with synthesizers, guitars and electric bass, Heard’s younger brothers dubbed him “LooseFingers”.

Heard refers to his own music as “atmospheric” and “passionate”, and composes lyrics and music of various styles, thus he always has an ample catalog of material on hand.

He has performed, produced, written and re-mixed for numerous labels including Capitol, MCA, Mercury, Warner Brothers, Virgin, EMI, Columbia, FFrr, Island, Circa and Relativity.

His label is Alleviated Records, and Beatport is proud to have the classic anthems ‘You Rock Me’ and ‘The Sun Can’t Compare’ available digitally for the first time.

MN2S Recordings

Enjoying much success with Sandy Rivera on ‘Freak’, Haze hooks up with Danism to deliver ‘Mesmerise’.

This is one in a series of commended releases that drop on MN2S from the duo Danism, which consists of Danism (aka Dan Liquid of Liquid People fame) and Dan Nu:Tone.

The Vocal Mix grabs your attention with the trademark shifty Haze style.

The production focuses on a mix of classic and contemporary keys with bubbling beats.

The Dub Mix sees Liquid People’s other half, Conan Liquid working a darker and dirtier vibe.

Saved Recordings

Skylark is Nic Fanciulli and Andy Chatterley, and their debut artist album, ‘i-Panik’, is something Nic and Andy have been meaning to get around to for some time.

However, the success of 2004’s ‘That’s More Like it’ saw the electronic act inundated with remix requests from the likes of Kylie to Deep Dish.

You can kind of see why it’s taken until now to get this release out.

Skylark has been working together for almost ten years with a list of impressive credentials, including being nominated for a Grammy Award for their remix of Tiefschwarz’s ‘Damage’ collaboration with Tracy Thorn under the Buick Project moniker.

Together they have released over 20 remixes and original productions.

The ‘i-Panik’ album contains 14 tracks ranging from West Coast-esque house to clever, melodic progressive soundscapes.

‘i-Panik’ is versatile, in that it works in the club, car and after party — you can dance or just sit back and chill.

Skylark’s new album is a great display of the power behind electronic music.

Axtone Records: Axwell ‘It’s True’ Dabruck & Klein Remix

Duo Dabruck & Klein bang out an impressive electro mix of the monster house hit, ‘It’s True’.

Defected: Hardsoul ‘Self Religion (Believe In Me)’

One of the stand-out tracks from Hardsoul [main image] and their forthcoming D-Fused & Digital compilation, ‘Self Religion (Believe In Me)’ further demonstrates the Dutch Duo’s talents extend well beyond the DJ booth and threaten to loom as large as the rest of their back catalogue.

Mark Knight’s mix takes the package techy lifting elements from lil’ mo yin yang ‘Reach’ and delivers a mix that’s bound to get abused in those late night sets.

Mr Penn does the business with his trademark keys, ripping it apart with that classic house sound we’ve come to know and love.

‘Self Religion (Believe In Me)’ is a battle weapon that’s not to be missed!

SSOH: DJ Gregory Back to Fundamentals ‘You Are My Friend’

What’s very exciting about this concept is the wide range of people involved, which is quite illustrative of the impact of house music.

You’ll find everyone from Martin Solveig and Dimitri from Paris to Julien Jabre, DJ Gregory, Bob Sinclar, DJ Fudge, Frank Roger, Rocco, Torre, David Duriez, Llorca and many more.

Don’t miss the fresh uplifting spirit emulated by this house anthem suitable for all dance floors, all year around.
