The Whitest Boy Alive’s ‘Golden Cage’ reaches for the top

The Whitest Boy Alive [a] ‘Golden Cage’ on Modular [l] has been vying for the upper echelons of the Beatport chart in recent weeks, and in no small way down to Fred Falke’s stunning remix.

The man, who along with long-time studio partner Alan Braxe, has risen through the ranks to become one of the pivotal masterminds in the Gallic house movement turns in another mix rich in Parisian charm – filters set to maximum with compression on extra high deliver a mouth-watering concoction of bombastic beats and gruff basslines, creating a vibe that is pure Daft Punk.

The result is a monstrous remix, turning a so-so indie band’s track into a warm, melodic, simple and yet highly complex and distinctly French-sounding number.

Another bass throbbing must-have purchase that’ll appeal on many levels.
