The Way

The Way

Pole Folder [La Tour]

A true master of the progressive house scene, Pole Folder [a] aka Benoit Franquet, is the epitome of the genre’s once perceived sophisticated mysticism.

Resolutely loyal to prog’s dark hypnotism, Franquet’s meticulous attention to detail and multi-layered approach to electronic music is all the more bold in an era of minimal pervasiveness.

La Tour represents Pole Folder’s new label project, and the next stage in the career of the floppy haired maestro, who is so dedicated to the finer arts of synthesis and sound generation that he once lived in his tiny studio in Brussels for an extended period (the last we heard, he was still there).

‘The Way’ is positively dripping with opulent ethereal moments, that if anything, are the exact opposite of electro house. Full of rich, emotive melodies, blissful pad lines and live instrument moments, the music glides over you like a safety blanket, subtly enveloping you in a wall of sound.

There are no big drops or protruding basslines, brash vocals or crude sample manipulations - it’s much more complex.

Poignantly, Pole Folder enlists the remix services of Spooky [a] - a duo who are credited as one of the originators of the progressive movement - who turn in an earth-shattering Funk D’Void-inspired techno rework.
